Top 11 Ways to Fix iPhone Hangs Up When Calling Someone

It’s irritating when the iPhone drops calls in the middle of a conversation. Sometimes it even hangs up when you try to call someone and shows a “Call Failed” message. Before you think about switching carriers, follow the steps below and fix your iPhone that hangs up when you call someone.

The problem may be related to your carrier or your iPhone. Nevertheless, we will cover every trick and fix the problem.
1. Turn airplane mode on and off
Using the Airplane Mode trick will restart your iPhone’s network connection. Swipe down from the top right corner, open Control Center and enable Airplane Mode.

Those using an iPhone with a physical button can swipe up from the bottom. Keep the iPhone in airplane mode for about 10 seconds and turn it off from the same menu.
Try calling someone and the call should go through.
2. Make sure you have a good network connection
You must ensure that there are enough network bars to complete a successful call. Look in the upper right corner and check if you have some network bars.

If you have no network bars on your iPhone, you will continue to see the call failed error.
3. Reinsert the SIM card
Have you dropped your iPhone recently? It may have messed up the SIM card setting on the iPhone.
Use the SIM injection tool, remove the SIM card and reinsert it correctly. Once you have regained network connectivity on your iPhone, try calling someone.
4. Check Carrier Plans
This is relevant for those who have prepaid iPhone plans. Maybe your carrier plan has reached its expiration date and you haven’t renewed it for future use.
You can call your carrier or go to their respective website to purchase one of the call/data plans.

5. Update carrier settings
Operators regularly release new network updates to improve network coverage in the country. In most cases, carriers bundle the update with iOS releases.
You can also manually continue and update the carrier settings on your iPhone. Here’s how.
Step 1: Open Settings on the iPhone.
2nd step: Go to the General menu.
Step 3: Select About.


Step 4: Scroll down to the Network menu.
Step 5: You can check the current version of the network provider. Tap on it and it will be updated to the latest version.

8. Call using instant messaging apps
Popular apps such as WhatsApp and Telegram offer voice calling features. If you are having trouble with frequent calls, switch to WhatsApp, FaceTime or Telegram to make calls over the internet.
9. Use Wi-Fi Calling
If you are still experiencing calls on your iPhone, you can use Wi-Fi Calling as a temporary solution.
Step 1: Open Settings on iPhone and go to Mobile Data menu.
2nd step: Select your plan and tap Wi-Fi Calling.


Step 3: Enable Wi-Fi Calling on this iPhone toggles in the next menu.

10. Let the iPhone cool down
This applies to those who live in hot regions. During the summer, your iPhone can become uncomfortably hot and it may interrupt calls and other tasks to avoid damaging the hardware.
You can turn off the iPhone, wait for the temperatures to drop, and try again.
11. Update iPhone
A buggy iOS update can cause iPhone to hang during calls. Apple is usually quick to fix these issues.
You can go to iPhone settings and open the general menu. Select Software Update and install the latest iOS version on iPhone. If you don’t have any pending updates, you can use iTunes to back up your iPhone and the data on it. Then, use the latest stable iOS version available with iTunes to factory reset it.
