SMARTCymru funding to enable a new mobile application with Covid-19 functionality

Ortharize announced that it has started work on a new mobile application to complement its web platform and improve user experience and traveler safety for organizations that choose Ortharize as their business travel partner.
The project which will cost around £ 100,000 over the next 12 months, which will see the recruitment of additional staff, is partially funded by the Welsh Government’s SMARTCymru project.
The app will work primarily as a companion app for business travelers, allowing them to store travel tickets, check routes, as well as store vaccination evidence and test results. The app will also allow employers to request the presentation of proof of vaccination and test results, which will then be stored on their central Ortharize portal.
The app will also offer the following features:
- The possibility for travelers to declare themselves safe once at destination, with notification sent to their manager.
- Monitoring of CO2 emissions for car journeys.
- Flight delay and the latest global information on border / airline restrictions.
Jon Maddison, CEO of Ortharize, said:
âThis app will be an essential tool for business travelers, helping them stay safe and up to date while on the road. Ortharize is constantly innovating and therefore we are delighted to collaborate with SMARTCymru.
âIt’s fantastic to see how quickly South Wales is transforming into a technology hub and we are delighted that this project gives us another opportunity to contribute to this trend. “
The first version of the application is expected to be released to the public in early 2022.
