Google uses AI-generated automated responses on most of its supported apps. The latest app to receive the smart answer suggestions feature is the Google Voice Android app.

Smart replies are convenient in many ways and appear above the “Type a message” field. It will, of course, appear in relevant conversations you have. Thus, they may not load in all existing threads.

You can use these smart answers to complete your sentences without typing those few extra words. The smart answer suggestions feature is usually useful when you are unsure of the grammar of your sentences.

A total of three smart suggestions will be displayed in pill-shaped boxes. You can tap the appropriate suggestion and complete your sentence.

Note that these smart suggestions only appear for outgoing messages. After answering, these suggestion boxes will quickly disappear.

However, there is one important thing to keep in mind when using the smart answer suggestions feature. Once you tap on a suggestion, the response will go through immediately, rather than placing the text in your response and giving you the option to make additional edits.

Similar Smart Reply behavior is also evident on the Google Messages app. In Gmail, however, you have the option to edit the text after selecting the smart reply in your outgoing message.

The Google Voice smart answer suggestions feature is working fine. You may want to make one or two edits before you can manually send the message.

As reported by 9to5Google, the smart reply suggestions feature for Google Voice is available on Android app version 2022.01.24. The feature is not available for iOS or the web app. It could be beneficial for users if it comes to the web version.

Additionally, you can now use the paid business service to make calls from European Google Voice numbers to mobile and landline numbers. This feature is supported in many European countries at the cost of a Google Voice license.

If you are interested, know that this feature has already been in effect since Tuesday, February 8. Previously, these calls were applied to national and international call rates.
