Microsoft Defender app published on Android, iPhone, Mac and Windows
With the growing threat of cyberattacks and online scams, we saw Microsoft trial a new Microsoft Defender app for Windows, iOS, Android, and macOS late last year. Now, the Redmond giant has finally made the app generally available for Microsoft 365 users. Check out the details right here!
Microsoft Defender app released for Microsoft 365 users
When Microsoft first released the Defender app preview last year, the company described it as a “personal defense against digital threats” on users’ devices, be it a Windows PC, Mac or iPhone or Android smartphone. This is because the app works cross-platform and helps strengthen existing security systems against malware and phishing that a user already has.
The Defender app provides anti-malware protocols available on Windows to owners of Android, iOS, and macOS devices. Users will receive security alerts, solutions and tips to improve their system security through this application. They will also be able to monitor third-party antivirus programs such as McAfee or Norton from the Defender Dashboard.
Now, it should be mentioned that some of the features are currently platform specific. For instance, malware protection is currently available on Windows and iOSwhile “Tips” is currently only available on macOS and Windows machines.
It’s also worth noting that you’ll need a Microsoft 365 family or personal plan to use the new Defender app on any platform. Additionally, Microsoft said it was “just the beginning” of his efforts. Going forward, the company aims to introduce more features like online identity theft protection and secure logins.
You can learn more about the new Microsoft Defender app on its official website.
