How to Find Your Phone’s IMEI Number on iPhone and Android

Knowing how to find your phone’s IMEI number can be extremely helpful. When you’ve just sold your phone — if you’re trading it in with a manufacturer or carrier, for example — you need to know.

If you bought one of the best possible phones, which is then stolen, you can use your IMEI to find the phone more easily and even block it from entering a mobile network to make it much less valuable to thieves. You may also need to know the number if you are traveling abroad, as it is necessary to register your phone for use in some countries.

It used to be that you could find your IMEI number in your phone’s battery compartment. But these days you can’t open your phone, so it’s often printed on a sticker on the back of the phone or somewhere inside your phone box. How to find your phone’s IMEI number on any device

This is the easiest method that works on any phone by entering a “quick code” into your dialer app. It will also work on non-smartphones, so it really works on any phone.

1. Open your phone application. Now Dial *#06#. You will get a popup as soon as you enter the final hash which will show you your IMEI numbers. If you have the option of using two SIM cards (either via two cards or one card and one eSIM), you will get two numbers, as you see in this example.

How to Find Your Phone’s IMEI Number on iPhone

If you want to find the IMEI on an iPhone more easily without using weird diagnostic codes, here’s a different process using the Settings app that will get you there.

1. Open Settings app, then faucet General

2. Now to select Onso Scroll down the page from the page, where you will find your IMEI number (except yours will not be blacked out)

How to Find Your Phone’s IMEI Number on Android

These steps may differ because there are many small differences between Android phones. However, you’ll probably find that one of these methods is at least similar to what your model uses.

How to Find Your Phone’s IMEI Number on a Samsung Device

On a Samsung phone, do the following:

1. Open the Settings app, then select About phone, at the bottom of the first page of options. Your IMEI number(s) will appear at the top of the screen.

How to Find Your Phone’s IMEI Number on a Google Device

On a Google Pixel phone, it works much the same way:

1. Select About phone option in the Settings app. A little further down the next page you will see your IMEI number.

How to Find Your Phone’s IMEI Number on Other Android Devices

Here’s another method (taken from a OnePlus phone) that you might want to follow if the previous methods didn’t get you to your IMEI number.

1. In the Settings app, select About device.

2. Now, scroll down and to select Status. Here you will find your IMEI numbers and other practical information about the device.
