IPhone Notes is a handy built-in tool that is an easy and efficient way to jot down thoughts, create lists, and more. It’s like sticky notes and a notepad combined, but much more organized and lightweight because it’s all in the device you hold in your hands.

After this brief introduction, you will find that Notes is a great app to use anytime, anywhere. Let’s explore the basics of using iPhone Notes app.

How to compose a new note on your iPhone

To get started, go to Remarks application. Press the Compose button (the icon looks like a square of paper with a pen) located in the lower right corner to create a new note.

Start typing using your onscreen keyboard. By default, the first line is the title and the rest is the body of the text.

The iPhone’s Notes app automatically saves the content you write. On the same screen, just tap at the top left to see your new note connected to the app’s list of folders and notes.

How to Format Text Styles in Notes on iPhone

Like your regular word processor, the iPhone Notes app lets you format text. For clarity, you can bold, italicize, underline, and strike out words. You can also apply heading and caption styles. Here’s how:

  1. Double tap the word you want to format.
  2. If you want to format more than one word, drag the yellow dots on each side to highlight the phrases or phrases you want to change.
  3. Press the Format button (the icon looks like Aa) to display the text style options. This button is located just above your onscreen keyboard.
  4. Select the desired formatting style.

How to create a checklist with the Notes app

Whether it’s planned purchases or tasks for the day, checklists help you keep track of what you need to do. Here’s how to use them:

  1. Press the Control List (the list icon next to Aa).
  2. Enter your first item by typing next to the empty bullet that appeared.
  3. hurry To return to on your onscreen keyboard to move to the next line and enter other items.
  4. Each time you’ve completed an item, tap the empty bullet. A check mark will appear.

How to insert photos or videos into iPhone note

To insert a photo or video, press the Camera icon, located between Control List and Markup buttons.

You can choose to add an image from your iPhone’s photo library or take a new photo here and there.

Once you’re done, you can easily share your note and collaborate with others as well.

How to scan documents in iPhone Notes app

When you scan a document instead of just taking a photo, the output is much sharper because your iPhone emphasizes text. To scan a document into Notes:

  1. Press the Camera icon next to Control List, Then choose Scan documents.
  2. Place your document in front of your iPhone’s camera.
  3. By default, the document scanning function is enabled Auto fashion. You can change the mode to Manual by pressing the function in the upper right corner.
  4. Press the Shutter button to capture the scan.
  5. Drag the corners to adjust the image. When you are satisfied, press Continue analysis, Do, and finally To safeguard to insert the scanned document into your note.


How to Use Live Text in iPhone Notes App

Live Text was introduced in iOS 15. It can be a good alternative to scanning if you want to have an editable version of the text in an image. Here’s how to use it:

  1. Tap the flashing cursor on your note.
  2. Press the Live Text button, which looks like lines of text in a box.
  3. Place the desired section of the physical document in front of your iPhone’s camera.

How to draw and sketch in the Notes app

Sometimes words can’t accurately capture the content you need. Instead of typing, you can draw simple sketches in Notes:

  1. Press the Markup button (looks like a pen tip).
  2. Choose your drawing tool (such as a pen or pencil) and select a color from the color wheel.
  3. To customize the thickness and opacity of the line, press the selected drawing tool again to display the available options.
  4. Use your finger to draw. For perfectly straight lines, use the ruler tool.
  5. When your drawing is complete, press Do.

How to organize notes in folders and subfolders

Over time, you will likely have dozens of notes in your app. An easy way to keep things organized is to sort them into folders and subfolders.

To save a note you’re working on in a folder:

  1. Press the Following in the upper right corner of your note (the icon looks like three dots in a circle).
  2. To select Move Note.
  3. To select New folder to create a new folder.
  4. Enter a folder name. Faucet To safeguard.
  5. Your grade is now in the assigned folder.

To move an existing note to another folder:

  1. In your list of notes, swipe left on the note you want to move.
  2. Press the Move button, which looks like a folder.
  3. Select the folder where you want to move the note.

You can also move several notes at the same time:

  1. Using two fingers, double-tap anywhere on your note list.
  2. Check the notes you want to move.
  3. Faucet Move, located in the lower left corner of your screen.
  4. Select a destination folder.

You can further organize your notes using Tags and Smart Folders if you want.

As an added tip, you can choose to view your notes as a gallery rather than a list. To do this, simply press the Following button at the top right and select View as gallery.

How to delete and restore notes on your iPhone

For a note you no longer need, here’s how to delete it:

  1. Swipe left on the note you want to delete.
  2. Press red To delete button.

You can also delete multiple notes at once:

  1. Use two fingers and double-tap anywhere on your note list.
  2. Tap to checkmark the notes you want to delete.
  3. Faucet To delete, located at the bottom of your screen.

IPhone Notes app keeps deleted notes for 30 days. If you want to recover notes that you accidentally deleted, here’s how:

  1. From Files page of your Notes application, press Recently deleted.
  2. Faucet Edit, located in the upper right corner.
  3. Check the note you want to restore.
  4. Faucet Move and select the folder where you want to restore the note.
