DOST-PCIEERD provides 43 million P to 14 startups
To revive the Philippine economy and help it recover from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Philippine Council of the Department of Science and Technology for Industry, Energy, and Research and Development Emerging Technologies provides 43 million pesos as a research and development grant to 14 startup companies.
DOST PCIEERD Executive Director Dr Enrico Paringit expressed optimism that the 14 start-ups will create a huge impact in Philippine society with their cross-cutting technology products and services. âAs a leader and partner in promoting innovation, we are constantly on the lookout for new talent who can breathe new life into the Philippine economy through innovative products and services. We are delighted with our 14 new startups that will launch a new generation of innovators in the country, âhe said. Of the 54 proposals received in the first call, most of the 14 startups selected were from Luzon with nine startups, followed by Mindanao with three and Visayas with two. Here are the names of the 14 startups and their projects:
Project Title: An Agricultural Technology Platform, Automated Logistics Reservation for Farmers and Fishermen Agrabah provides an integrated platform that organizes the delivery of agricultural products from farming communities to businesses, providing farmers with a seamless market experience, easy access to customers and financing to meet volume requirements.
2. MosaicProject title: New product development and market validation of an online food and beverage procurement platform Mosaic Mosaic is an online food and beverage (F&B) procurement marketplace for establishments and food suppliers.
3. CAWIL AI
Project Title: Improving the Prototype and Market Validation of Traceability Access for Consumer and Export Powered by Artificial Intelligence Software System (TrACE.AI) identifying fish species.
4. Burket PH
Project Title: Improving and Assessing the Marketability of an AI-Powered Buyer-Supplier Matching and Management System for Businesses in the Philippines The Burket Platform is a Digitized Procurement Process for Business-to-Business Transactions .
Project Title: Zippee Logistics Improvement and Validation: A B2B Franchise Logistics Platform for Truck Owners and Franchisees Zippee Logistics is a B2B logistics service booking platform for truck owners and franchisees.
Project title: Improving the MSME supply chain experience by integrating cold chain solutions into DeliverE 2.0 -to-consumer (B2C), which increases process cycle efficiency by 63% by shortening the agricultural supply chain from 8 steps to 4 steps. It also includes monitoring of the transport fleet and warehouses. 7. Bizkit
Project Title: Improving BizKit (The First Local Centralized Business Suite) to Better Facilitate Cross-functional and Holistic Business Operations in the New Normal
BizKit is a local, centralized business suite to streamline processes and information across the enterprise and enable real-time data visibility into the state of the business.
Project Title: Market Segment Validation and Targeting for CodeChum, an Online Programming Course Platform CodeChum is a web-based online platform for teaching programming for teachers and students.
9. Infinite LMS
Project title: Improving and validating the market for Infinit LMS, a learning management system with results-based education analysis
Project Title: Prototype and Market Validation Improvement of TinkerClubs.com (a STEAM Learning Platform for Kindergarten to Grade 6 Learners) TinkerClubs is a community-based e-learning platform that supports STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) workshops, projects and learning kits for young students.
Project Title: Improving the Material Property of Lesstics Roofing Tile (Bio-based Insulating Polymer / Single-Use Plastic Composite) Lesstics is a cost-effective and sustainable material derived from single-use plastic waste.
Project Title: Improvement and Market Validation of ROBIN (a reverse vending machine for collecting PET bottles and aluminum cans) ROBIN (Recycle On-demand BIN) is a reverse vending machine that collects plastic bottles and aluminum cans for redeeming reward points.
Project Title: Enhancement and Validation of the Advanced Robust Cooperative System (ARCS), an integrated software as a service (SAAS) solution for cooperative management and regulatory compliance The Advanced Robust Cooperative System (ARCS) is software as a -Service Platform (SAAS) that will help co-ops in the Philippines to manage and grow their operations and comply with regulatory requirements by integrating various basic and advanced data collection and reporting modules unique to co-ops into one easy online platform use.
Project Title: Improving the Local Disaster Reporting and Response System OBX Local Disaster Reporting and Response System is a system that easily identifies and tracks the location of reported incidents and facilitates the submission of a appropriate response to emergency needs. The startups were selected on the basis of their innovative solutions aligned with the theme of the program, “Relaunching the economy into the new normal”. The program is looking for start-ups capable of delivering automated, digital and contactless solutions in the following areas of concern:
- Sustainable industries – Technologies designed to fill gaps in the value chain of industries critical to increasing productivity, reducing costs and facilitating the production and distribution of goods in the new normal.
- Supply Chain and Logistics Management – Technologies that reduce reliance on physical labor in transportation, logistics and warehousing; platforms for matching and online delivery of goods from source to point of use.
- Learning / Education – Technologies supporting distance learning, distance education and online learning in response to the rise of online education in schools and universities.
- Home Work Productivity Tools – Productivity tools remote workers can use for connection, collaboration, workforce monitoring, time management, and more.
- Content and Talent Development – Technical support for content and talent development, infusion / improvement of new digital tools and technologies, marketing and customer engagement activities.
- Digital Tools for Public Service – Digital tools that will enable government agencies to consistently deliver public services at a faster pace, wider reach but with greater accuracy and transparency.
The Startup Grant Fund Program was launched to overcome barriers to R&D through improving prototypes, performing feasibility studies, developing product specifications, as well as validating product requirements. users, to strengthen their intellectual property (IP) through the protection and development of appropriate intellectual property strategies.
